Join us as we search the Houston area for fair trade products, raise awareness about the availability of fair trade in our city, and turn Houston into one of the largest Fair Trade Cities in the country by participating in our first Fair Trade Scavenger Hunt!

Those who register will be sent a list of locations on Monday, September 19, 2011, of retailers in Houston that have reported to carry fair trade items in their store. You will be asked to visit a set number of locations and itemize what fair trade items they do have and how many. Coupled with that search will be some fun activities to raise awareness about fair trade with your friends, family, and neighbors. You are welcome to form a team to work together to accomplish your goals and then submit your results. You can do this in one of two ways: online or in person at our Shop Smart Event on September 25th hosted at the Dominican Sisters, for more information about the Shop Smart Event click here.

Those who submit in person will each receive a fair trade gift and be entered to win one of many fabulous fair trade prizes. Those who submit online will be entered in a drawing to win a Houston Rescue and Restore t-shirt. All the information gathered will be included in our submission to make Houston a certified Fair Trade City, which will show our support for eliminating modern day slavery that is used to produce the goods and services we use every day.
